Brown mantella frog (Mantella betsileo) on a leaf. Brown mantella are endemic to Madagascar where their natural habitat is widely variable. Most species of Mantella are terrestrial, though some are tree-dwelling or aquatic. They secrete toxins through their skin and are brightly coloured to warn off predators (aposematism).
