The Watches of Entourage - From Ari Gold to Eric "E" Murphy

While I watched Entourage in real-time during its initial run, I recently re-watched (well, I guess re-binged) the series and the follow-up film and it remains as relevant and fresh today. HBO’s hit showcased the excess and opulence of Hollywood while also making the characters actually likable and memorable. And a show about Hollywood would not be complete without some awesome watches. No show, except for Succession, has been so ripe for watch spotting as Entourage (maybe HBO’s other show, Ballers, but do people actually watch it?). So while it may be a little delayed. I wanted to take a look at what the characters in Entourage wore on their wrists (hint: there were a lot of Audemars Piguets).

What watch does Ari Gold wear?

Ari Gold, portrayed masterfully by Jeremy Piven, is perhaps the most memorable character in Entourage, and surely a fan favorite. The brash, yet hilarious, super-agent is always dressed impeccably and emotionally abusing someone (usually, but not always, his assistants). Taking pieces of all of his talent’s movie deals, it makes sense that Ari would wear some very high-end timepieces. Ari’s watches, however, are almost always Royal Oaks (he has been pictured wearing a Franck Muller, but I’m not even going to get into that).

Ari has been seen wearing wearing the discontinued Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph Ref 26300ST “Panda.” This stainless steel timepiece has increased in price along with pretty much every other Royal Oak, currently selling on the secondary market for just under $50,000 USD.

Ari has been spotted throughout the series wearing many other Royal Oaks, in both gold and steel, chronograph and three-handed. Here Gold seems to be wearing a rose gold Royal Oak Ref. 15300 with black dial and leather strap.

The most noteworthy of these Royal Oaks, however, came in the series finale. John Ellis, the fictional CEO of Time-Warner had been courting Ari to become the head of Warner Bros. To entice Ari to take the offer, Ellis gifts him a gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph, likely a Ref. 25960OR.OO.1185OR.0. Ari turns down the offer to spend time with his wife in Italy, but later, in a post-credit scene, Ellis offers Ari the job of CEO of Time-Warner, replacing Ellis.

I was able to spot Ari wearing a Rolex once in the series and boy its a doozy (especially considering how hot the stainless steel Rolex market is right now). In season 5, episode 9, Ari is contemplating buying his former colleague Andrew Klein’s small, but successful, agency that focuses on television. Andrew hasn’t had the same success as Ari, and Ari doesn’t want to show him up during their meeting. He gives his assistant Lloyd his credit card and commands to buy something cheap, like a stainless steel Rolex. Later in the episode we see Ari wearing what appears to be a stainless steel Daytona with black dial. It’s funny to rewatch this scene during the current Rolex scarcity issues and the secondary market pricing boom.

What watch does Eric “E” Murphy wear?

Surprisingly, Eric Murphy, or just E, played by Kevin Connolly, has perhaps the second best watch collection of the Entourage crew. Perhaps this is due to the fact that he went from managing a Sbarro pizza restaurant to becoming Vincent Chase’s manager and he feels the need to fit in and prove his bona fides. Either way, E has been spotted wearing some nice watches over the course of the series.

One of the pieces E is often seen wearing during the series is a Rolex Daytona, with steel bezel and black dial. This is the same model Ari bought solely for his meeting with Andrew Klein. While the retail price on this piece was under $13,000 USD (as are the newer steel Daytonas with ceramic bezel), this variation of the Daytona is currently selling for around $30,000 USD on the grey market.

Perhaps following in Ari’s footsteps, or perhaps due to an arrangement between HBO and Audemars Piguet, Eric can be seen wearing a gold Royal Oak. This fits with the numerous Royal Oaks worn by the cast throughout the series (and with E’s growth as a manager throughout the series).

What watch does Johnny Drama Wear?

Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon) is Vince’s lower profile half-brother, who came to fame for his role in the fictional “Viking Quest.” Constantly trying to ride Vince’s coattails to get new roles, Drama is incredibly loyal and pretty hilarious in his own right. He is seen throughout the series wearing different timepieces, many of which are generic, not easily identifiable, and not really worth identifying.

However, Drama also gets into the Royal Oak craze. I managed to find a screenshot of Drama wearing what appears to be an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver on rubber strap. The only other possible watch this could be is a Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph with black dial. However, when you zoom into the watch, it does not appear to have any subdials, making me pretty confident that its a diver.

What watch does Turtle wear?

Like Eric and Ari, Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) also has a pretty extensive watch collection. This makes sense as Turtle has a unique fashion sense and is also a sneaker collector (watch and sneaker collecting often go hand in hand.

At one point in the series it appears that Turtle is wearing an older Jacob & Co. JC2 5 Time Zone watch. However, the piece just looks a little off. This appears to be the one time that the Entourage producers decided to go with a prop/knock-off rather than the genuine thing. For shame Entourage! Check out the actual Jacob & Co. piece along with the cheaper Ferrari 4 Time Zones that Turtle appears to be actually wearing.

Turtle can also be seen wearing a Panerai while he is dating Jamie-Lynn Sigler, or Meadow Soprano of The Sopranos fame. The exact model appears to be a Panerai PAM 072 on metal bracelet.

Finally, I bet you are asking whether Turtle also had an AP? And the answer is a big yes. In the later seasons Turtle can also be seen wearing a rose gold Royal Oak, though it is hard to determine the exact model.

What watch does Vincent Chase wear?

While Vince may be the richest of the characters in Entourage it appears he is also the only character that doesn’t appreciate high-end watches. This fits with his character. Vince seems to get more happiness buying his buddies (entourage) nice gifts, including motorcycles and Maseratis. So it kinda makes sense that he wouldn’t be interested in wearing a watch. If you have seen him in the series wearing a watch, be sure to let me know!
