Sony Ericsson P1 Pushes Real Good

IMAP idle will let you get push style email from any provider that supports the idle standard (the server tells your phone when there is a message, just like push).... Also announced today are the stainless steel 3G T650, the sleek S500 slider and a cut down version of the T650, the T250, whith FM radio and camera.

P1

The P1 is the latest in the distinguished line of P series smart phones from Sony Ericsson. There's not much really new here, it's more an evolution. The P900 and P990 were great phones (I still use a P900) with little room for improvement other than bringing them up to date.

That's what Sony Ericsson have done. Now 25% smaller than it's predecessor, with WiFi, Tri-Band GPRS and UMTS 2100, a 3.5MP camera, VoIP, video calling and just about every form of email you could ever want. Push is the word, and the P1 gives you eight kinds, including RIM Connect and Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. IMAP idle will let you get push style email from any provider that supports the idle standard (the server tells your phone when there is a message, just like push).

Everything else you'd expect is in there too: Music player, Bluetooth Stereo, plus business card scanning software.

Sony Ericsson claims a full QWERTY keyboard, but it's one of those odd two-letters-per-key hybrids that may or may not work. We'll have to wait to get our hands on one. Also announced today are the stainless steel 3G T650, the sleek S500 slider and a cut down version of the T650, the T250, whith FM radio and camera. Pictures below.
