In February 2019, the website TV Line hinted, through Mark Pedowit who is the president of The CW, that the young, beautiful and rich Upper East Sider's may be returning... eight years after the series ended. Back in the 2000s, the likes of Blair Waldorf, Serena Van Der Woodsen, Chuck Bass, Nate Archibald and Dan Humphrey made us dream of life in Manhattan, here's everything you need to know.

What will the plot be?

The series will feature a brand-new Manhattan based elite social circle, but this time exposing the impact of social media in 2019. One of the main differences will be the fact that there will not be a mysterious blogger. Instead, everyone will make up the entity of Gossip Girl. Josh Schwartz, the series co-creator, explained “It didn't really feel like a group of adults who were being controlled by Gossip Girl would make a lot of sense. There was something really interesting about this idea that we are all Gossip Girl now, in our own way. We are all purveyors of our own social media surveillance state, and how that's evolved, and how that has morphed and mutated and telling that story through a new generation of Upper East Side high school kids felt like the right time." As he indicated on Twitter, Josh Schwartz has promised a show full of diversity.

Who will be in the cast?

Bye bye Serena, Blair, Dan, Chuck and Nate…there is a whole new New York elite set to shake up the whole of Manhattan. However, Josh Schwartz did suggest that he was not going to entirely close the door on the former stars of the show. Its newest members? We see on the steps of the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York the new cast played by Emily Alyn Lind, Whitney Peak, Tavi Gevinson, Thomas Doherty, Eli Brown, Adam Chanler-Berat, Zión Moreno and model Evan Mock, all dressed in their Constance and St. Jude's uniforms. For the anecdote, Chace Crawford aka Nate Archibald told Entertainment Weekly that it would be difficult for him to refuse if Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage asked him to return to the series.
