At last night’s Critics’ Choice Awards, Meg Ryan showed off a chic bob lifted straight from her rom-com heyday. The perfect partner to a strapless, black sequin gown, the choppy blonde style felt reminiscent of her signature hair looks in the ’90s. Taking a leaf out of your own playbook? We’re not mad at it.

Sitting a couple of inches above her shoulders, Ryan’s bob was cut bluntly, with shorter, face-framing pieces around the front. From the shape of the cut to her signature sun-kissed blonde—with just the right amount of root stretch—the 62-year-old looked positively glowing.

Back in the ’90s, when Ryan was starring in films like City of Angels and French Kiss, she’d often wear her short hair in a similar way, with lots of piece-y texture, a lived-in finish, and a nod to her natural waves. Another detail to note? Her slightly off-center parting, which helps hair fall naturally around her face to flattering effect. The original rom-com queen has made a return to the genre, starring opposite David Duchovny in What Happens Later. It’s only right that her signature hairstyle should make a comeback, too.
