Sailfin Molly Tropical Fish Learn all about the Sailfin Molly's feeding habits and food types, its behaviour, its origins, its natural habitats, is it male or female, breeding advice and information, suitable tank mates, its sizing and growth range, minimum tank size, water PH and more. The Sailfin Molly's instant attraction is the huge dorsal fin that is displayed by the males, which literally rises like a sail and is used to impress females and show dominance over other males. Sailfin Molly's are generally very hardy, adaptable and make a good addition to a community aquarium. A little aquarium salt is recommended to reduce the chances of the fish becoming ill. Should be kept in aquariums with plenty of swimming space and hiding spots amongst hardy plants. Sailfin Molly's are excellent algae eaters and should be given some vegetable or algae matter in their diet. With careful acclimatization, Sailfin Molly's will do well in brackish water and even in fully saltwater conditions.
