And the legendary striker is already considering his next steps in football.

AC Milan are looking to insert a new figure to act as a "link between the management and the team."

Italian outlet Calciomercato report that the role would be named "club manager" and Ibrahimovic would not be replacing Stefano Pioli as boss.

The former Manchester United and Barcelona star has held discussions over taking the job but remains unconvinced.

Ibrahimovic will reportedly take his time before choosing his next career move.

AC Milan are prepared to wait for him to decide before moving on to other targets.

Club president Paolo Scaroni confirmed the door is open for Ibrahimovic, telling Il Corriere dello Sport: "I have the impression that he wants to take a sabbatical period.

"Then he remains a friend, a person to whom we owe a lot, because in the most difficult moments he has allowed us to make a breakthrough.
