Balletcore has officially made its way to the Land of Oz. Ariana Grande just shared a picture of her and Cynthia Erivo's Miu Miu ballet flats, and we are very much here for it.
Ariana included the snap in an Instagram dump posted to her account on October 11. In it, we see Ari's pink flats and Cynthia's matching pair in black. The two co-stars seem to be rocking the popular shoe in what looks like a rehearsal for the upcoming two-part musical-turned-movie adaptation of Wicked.
Once relegated to the furthest apex of our closet, ballet flats are now making their consecutive rounds via our favorite stars. The Miu Miu ballet slipper specifically comes in a variety of shades — including powder blue, red, pink, and white. So whether you're a former dancer who wants to relive the glory days for nostalgia's sake or someone who's never even stepped in a dance studio, these shoes are for everyone now. (I mean, even Bella Hadid already gave them her stamp of approval.)
It seems like we all can't get enough of these shoes, so much so that they're always sold out. (Trust me, I've been trying to get my hands on a size 11 to no avail!)
Our latest additions of stars rocking a pair makes me even more excited for a possible Miu Miu ballet flat sighting in the forthcoming film. If you're a theatre nerd (like me) and became obsessed with Wicked after seeing it on Broadway in the 7th grade, then you'd know that Ariana wearing the pink flats and Cynthia opting for a black pair with green leggings underneath is the perfect color coordination for their respective roles as Glinda and Elphaba. (And if you know absolutely nothing about this musical, which is totally fine, maybe this will pique your interest!)

Wicked was first released in 2003 and has been an immense success in the theatre community for years. The musical follows a reimagined relationship between the Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba) and Glinda before they ever landed in Kansas with Dorothy and Toto. The musical was pegged to receive a movie adaptation, and after many tries, production finally commenced last year.
In February of 2021, it was confirmed that Jon M. Chu — fresh off the success of directing Crazy Rich Asians and In The Heights — had been tapped to lead the musical adaptation. Then, in November of 2021, it was announced that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo had landed the titular roles. And just in case we weren't excited enough for the film, Chu announced that Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey would be playing Fiyero, the leading male role.
The first film isn't set to release until 2024. Still, this latest rehearsal Instagram photo dump from Ariana is enough to keep me excited!
