Much like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Princess Madeleine of Sweden - who is eighth in line to the throne - traded the European royal lifestyle to live across the pond in 2018. Now based in Miami, the youngest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden works full-time for the World Childhood Foundation. The glamorous princess, who has carved out a career while still remaining part of the royal family, often returns to her native country to attend events and visit her loved ones.

During her latest trip to Sweden, the honey-haired princess found time to host a party for terminally ill children. The philanthropic royal was originally visiting in order to attend her niece's 11th birthday, but stayed on to hold the function at the royal stables for My Big Day: a charity which organises fun events for children living with serious illnesses. Madeleine has been the patron of the initiative since 2000.

The princess shared pictures of the event on Instagram, beaming alongside happy-looking children as they posed in groups together. Some of the young girls donned tiaras for the event, whilst others wore pretty floral crowns.

The children were taken on carriage rides and introduced to horses, before enjoying some elderberry juice and cake, all in the company of a ‘real life’ princess. In total, seven girls and one boy were invited to the palace's stables for the day.

Opting for a bohemian summer style, Madeleine wore a long pink dress which she paired with simple jewellery. The princess completed the look with natural makeup, letting her bouncy curls fall down below her shoulders.

Madeleine is the mother of Princess Leonore, eight, Prince Nicolas, six, and Princess Adrienne, four. In 2019, her father passed a law to remove Madeleine's children from the Royal Household, in order to reduce the number of heirs to the throne who would be working royals.
