INTRODUCTION
This Design Calculation has been prepared using the latest applicable American
codes and standards and the latest developments in engineering practices. A
competent Structural Engineer prepared the calculation and checked the work.
Computer programs and verified spreadsheets are used for the analysis and design
of the structure. The output of these programs has been incorporated in this
package.
For your easy reference, a table of contents has been provided. The description of
the design codes and material specifications used, loads and design sketches are
also included in the calculation.
Please read this calculation package in conjunction with the drawings provided.
You can resubmit this package with the drawings to other parties involved in this
project for their approval as required, or, keep this package for future reference.
The Structure described in this calculation was designed according to the latest American Buildings and Design Codes
that have been referred to in the design:
AISC-2005 “American Institute of Steel Construction” Manual of Steel Construction – Allowable Stress
Design, 13th Edition.
The loads as described have been applied on the structure in accordance with:
AWS D1.1M:2008 “American Welding Society” Structural Welding Code - Steel Manual, 2008 Edition.

may be made to the Engineer, should adverse conditions exist.
E. Arrange with the paint manufacturer to visit the site at intervals during the surface
preparation and painting operations to ensure that the proper surface preparation has been
completed, the specified paint products are being used, the proper number of coats are
being applied, the agreed finishing procedures are being used and that the paint
manufacturer regularly submits written reports to the Engineer.

and paint manufacturer. Apply the samples with the correct material, number of coats,
colour, texture and degree of gloss required. Refinish if required, until acceptance of the
Engineer is obtained.
G. Leave test areas undisturbed until completion of the work. Accepted work in the test area
shall serve as a standard for similar work throughout the Project. Work which does not
match the accepted finishes shall be corrected and refinished at no expense to the
Employer.

Zincanode 620 Zinc
Rich epoxy primer
ZINCANODE 620
High Solids Epoxy Zinc Rich Primer
PRODUCT A High performance two pack epoxy zinc rich primer which provides superior corrosion
protection to steel in aggressive environments.
DESCRIPTION
• Can be used underwater with suitable top coat.
• Provides Galvanized Protection.
• Complies with British standards BS 4652
• Meets performance requirements of BS 5493 APIB, DF, KPIB
DESIGNED USE As a high quality anti-corrosion primer for Berger Protective Coatings Systems used in
aggressive environments such as:
• Marine and Port Facilities
• Offshore Structures
• Petrochemical Plants
• Pipe works
• Suitable as primer for upto C5 Environment as per ISO12944 Part 2 along with suitable
intermediate and topcoats
SURFACE For best results, the surface should be treated as follows prior to priming.
PREPARATION • Remove all wax, oil and grease by solvent cleaning in accordance with the guidelines given by
SSPC-SPI.
• Where necessary remove weld spatter and round off all rough weld seams and sharp edges to a
smooth surface.
• Abrasive blast clean to a minimum standard of Sa 2 ½ Swedish Standard SIS 05 59 00 or ISO
8501-1 : 1988.
• Any surface defects revealed by blast cleaning should be ground, filled or treated in a suitable
manner.
• An average surface profile of 50 microns is acceptable, but this average should not exceed 75
microns.
• After blasting, remove dust from the surface.
• Special care must be taken on weld areas to remove flux and spatter. Welds should be ground
back to avoid pockets where corrosion can occur. The cleaned surface should be coated before
it becomes contaminated.
• The surface to be coated must also be clean and dry. If this product is to be over coated then
the surface must be free from all zinc salts. This can be achieved by fresh water wash and
scrubbing.
PRODUCT USE • Not recommended for immersion service in acid or alkaline conditions unless suitably top coated.
• Dry heat resistance up to l50°C.
RESTRICTIONS • As common with all Epoxy products, this product also will tend to discolour and chalk on exposure
to direct sunlight
• May also be applied between 50 and 75 Microns DFT.
• Contact Berger Representative for suggesting suitable paint system
SAFETY • Avoid contact with the skin and eyes. Wear suitable protective clothing such as overalls, goggles,
dust masks and gloves. Use a barrier cream.
PRECAUTIONS • Ensure that there is adequate ventilation in the area where the product is being applied. Do not
breathe vapor or spray.
• This product is flammable. Keep away from sources of ignition. Do not smoke. Take precautionary
measures against static discharge. In case of fire – blanket flames with foam, carbon dioxide or dry
chemicals
• Refer to MSDS for further information.
FIRST AID • Eyes: In the event of accidental splashes, flush eyes with water immediately and obtain medical
advice
• Skin: Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water or approved industrial cleaner.
• DO NOT USE solvent or thinners.
• Inhalation: Remove to fresh air, loosen collar and keep patient rested.
• Ingestion: In case of accidental ingestion, DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING.
Obtain immediate medical attention
