About 45 volunteers participated in the six-day survey of the 32-mile-long lake. They found all 14 previously identified clam sites still have live clams despite intensive eradication efforts.
Dave Wick, executive director of the Lake George Park Commission, tells the Glens Falls Post-Star the Lake George Asian Clam Task Force will meet next week to discuss treatment plans. That may include laying plastic mats on the infested lake bottom to smother clams.
The clams have been documented in the lake since 2010. If allowed to multiply and spread unchecked, the clams can cause water quality problems and cover the sandy lake bottom with sharp shells.
