Baron's Mantella

Mantella baroni

"Mantella baroni" is a species of frog in the Mantellidae family. It is endemic to Madagascar. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, rivers, and degraded former forest.

Naming

The species was described by George Albert Boulenger in 1888, who named it after its collector, Richard Baron.

Status

Although it has been classified as Least Concern species by the IUCN due to its relatively wide distribution, it is threatened by habitat loss. It is listed on CITES Appendix II.
