''Phelsuma quadriocellata'' is a species of gecko known by the common name peacock day gecko. It is endemic to Madagascar, where it is a common to abundant, widespread reptile.
This gecko lives in many types of low- to mid-elevation habitat types in Madagascar, including forests and areas with human activity such as cultivated land and human habitation. It is sometimes associated with ''Pandanus'' species.

According to Patrick Schönecker: Geckos Madagaskars der Seychellen, Komoren und Maskarenen / Geckos of Madagascar, the Seychelles, Comoros and Mascarene Islands ISBN 978-3-89973-362-4 Phelsuma lineata dorsivittata Mertens 1964 is restricted to the extreme north, cp. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phelsuma_dorsivittata#/media/File:Phelsuma_dorsivittata_distribution.png and looks different with horizontal oriented not bordered maroon macula lateral.
Phelsuma quadriocellata however, is documented at Marojejy, where this picture was taken. The lateral macula is more vertical and shows a broad blue border in the nominate form.

"they are correct—this is Phelsuma quadriocellata lepida. I thought that this population had been re-assigned to P. cf. dorsivittata, but they are two separate species. I had forgotten that P. q. lepida was from this area."
