Rosemary Shrager began her cookery career working for Pierre Koffmann at Chelsea’s La Tante Claire and Jean-Christophe Novelli, gradually discovering her passion and talent for teaching. Thus her cookery school at Amhuinnsuidhe Castle off the Scottish coast was born, and in 2003 she moved to Swinton Park, a beautiful castle hotel in North Yorkshire, where for nearly a decade her courses for home cooks were a huge hit. From 2012 to 2019 she ran her own cookery school in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, and now teaches online at rosemaryshrager.com. Rosemary is the star of television series such as: Castle Cook (ROSEMARY CASTLE COOK, Adelphi Publishers) and Rosemary on the Road (both Channel 5), Ladette to Lady (ITV) and Rosemary, Queen of the Kitchen (Discovery).
In 2007, her television career took a great leap forward when she became ITV’s Alan Titchmarsh Show’s resident cook and presented a 30-part RDF Television series Rosemary Shrager’s School for Cooks (ITV). A second series, for 2008, was commissioned immediately and a tie-in book ROSEMARY SHRAGER’S SCHOOL FOR COOKS was published by Dorling Kindersley. In 2009, Rosemary Shrager and her talented team won ITV’s cookery challenge Taste the Nation and she presented Ladette to Lady with American and Australian contestants, in response to the popularity of the TV series in the USA (MTV) and Australia (Channel Nine). In 2010 Rosemary also bravely took to the high seas, sailing the waters of the British Isles filming a major ITV evening show All at Sea and in 2012 she took to the Australian jungle in ITV’s I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here.
In the past few years, we have seen Rosemary with other ‘let’s give it a go’ celebrities on BBC’s The Real Marigold Hotel. In 2017 Rosemary was a judge with Giorgio Locatelli on BBC’s The Big Family Cooking Showdown and in 2020 she returned to the global screen with Netflix series Best Leftovers Ever! In 2021 she navigated Channel 5’s Fishing Scotland’s Lochs and Rivers. In 2021 and 2022 Rosemary made us laugh in ITV’s Cooking with the Stars as she taught comedian Johnny Vegas and dancer Anton Du Beke a challenging technique or two …
Rosemary’s most recent cookery book ROSEMARY SHRAGER’S COOKERY COURSE: 150 TRIED & TESTED RECIPES TO BE A BETTER COOK was published by BBC Books in 2018 and in paperback in 2021.
In 2022, Rosemary launched herself into a world where cookery and crime collide. Her first cosy crime novel THE LAST SUPPER, starring the indomitable celebrity chef Prudence Bulstrode, was published to widespread acclaim as a lead title by Little, Brown and was followed in 2023 by THE PROOF IN THE PUDDING.
