Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden Are Pregnant With Their First Child

Baby news is always exciting, but royal baby news makes our hearts flutter especially fast. We've soaked up every stylish moment of Kate Middleton's two pregnancies (and there were many), anxiously awaited the births of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, and obsessed over each and every adorable photo released of the youngest royals (those cheeks!). Our hearts break at news that Prince George is being harassed by the paparazzi and melt when we hear sweet stories about him and his baby sister (like when Prince George thought he was three!). To put it lightly, we love these little royal munchkins (along with the rest of the world)—and soon, we'll have a new young royal to fawn over: Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden are expecting their first child! The Swedish Royal Court announced the happy news about the new baby: "Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia are delighted to announce that the Princess is expecting their first child. The birth is expected to take place in April 2016," the royal statement read. The Swedish Royal Court announced the happy news about the new baby: "Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia are delighted to announce that the Princess is expecting their first child. The birth is expected to take place in April 2016," the royal statement read. Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia added: "We are so happy and excited to announce that we are expecting our first child. We are very much looking forward to it." The royal baby will be fifth in line for the Swedish throne, according to People. The mag also reports that the Swedish royal family delayed announcing the news to avoid distracting attention from four-month-old Prince Nicolas—the youngest son of Princess Madeleine and Christopher O'Neill—christening, which was held this past weekend.

Prince Carl Philip married Sofia Hellqvist back in mid-June of this year. The handsome prince, the only son of Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, is currently third in line to the throne. Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia—who worked as a model, yoga teacher, and reality tv star—started dating back in 2010, and were engaged in June 2014. Princess Sofia will also get to be pregnant alongside her royal sister-in-law: Crown Princess Victoria is pregnant with her second child and due in March 2016.
