Aponogeton crispus

Florida Aquatic Nurseries grows Aponogeton crispus.  Aponogeton crispus is an aquatic bulb plant native to southern India and Sri Lanka.  Aponogeton crispus is an excellent aquarium plant as the central focal point in a moderate sized planted aquarium displaying long dark green leaves that have an undulating margin.  Aponogeton crispus are bulb plants and will sometimes enter a dormant stage.  Just be patient and new leaves will begin to sprout.  It is not necessary with every dormancy, but it will help the plant live longer if the bulb is occasionally taken out of the aquarium for a resting period. Because this plant, in nature lives in small pools that dry up outside the rainy season, it does better stored in fairly dry environment during dormancy (drier than many Aponogeton sp.).  After a couple of months of dormancy, the bulbs can be replanted back into the aquarium.
