Lawrence R. Nordwall , 83, of 413 Sycamore, New Lenox, formerly of Toulon, died at 3:08 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet.

Born Nov. 29, 1918, in Bureau City to Albert A. and Lois P. Hamilton Nordwall , he married Muriel H. Smith. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Lawrence James (and Dorothy), Sidney (and Therese) and Kenneth (and Cheri); two daughters, Georgia (and Claude) Heale and Cheryl (and Todd) Larson; three brothers, Glen (and Eleanor) and Harry (and Betty), both of Peoria, and Ivan of Chillicothe; two sisters, Melba (and Jim) VanHoose and Velma Gupton; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a retired machinist. He was a member of United Methodist Church of New Lenox.

Burial was Wednesday in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Kurtz Memorial Chapel in New Lenox was in charge of arrangements.
