Where to eat and drink

As one of the culinary capitals of the world, Grenada pride themselves on cultivating the best quality food and experiences. From vegan and Ital food to farm-to-table fine dining, there’s something on the menu for everyone.

Chef Joachim Joseph

For those wanting to eat vegan, you’re in luck! Grenada has a rich plant-based food culture given the bountiful fruit, spices and chefs they produce - like Chef Joachim Joseph.

Chef Joachim Joseph is Grenada’s vegan and ital culinary maestro. With a green thumb and a flair for flavour, he's spicing up the island's food scene with his 'Volcan Vegan' takeaway restaurant and more recently, his immersive dining experience ‘The Farm 2 Table Vybrationz.'

Foodies will relish in the fresh flavours from Chef Joachim’s dining experience. On this occasion we enjoyed his vegan spin on the traditional Caribbean meal Saltfish and Boiled Dumplings while visiting Annandale Waterfall & Forest Park. Joachim prepared a tasty turmeric vegetable medley with organic peppers, cabbage and tomatoes paired with a heavenly serving of coconut dumplings and roasted breadfruit that had us gong back for seconds. The best part? This filling food experience can cater up to 15 people and cost from £34 per person.

Armadillo Restaurant

Armadillo Restaurant

Armadillo Restaurant is a fine dining gem in the north of the island, run by Swiss-Grenadian duo Andrea and Bernie.

The menu, a love letter to local ingredients, showcases a fusion of bold spices and fresh catches, expertly curated by the seasonal produce of Grenada . We loved their king fish and potato gnocchi as well as their caramelised pineapple crumble with salted caramel ice cream. Priced from £24 per person.

The ambience is equally dreamy – laid-back Caribbean vibes, making it the ultimate hotspot for a memorable (and Instagrammable) dining experience.

Dexter's Restaurant

Another jewel on the island isn’t found at a traditional restaurant, but at Dexter’s Restaurant in Saint George's, Grenada. Home of Dexter Burris, world-renowned chef and former chef at the Calabash Luxury Resort.

Imagine a beachy breeze, sunset patio views and dishes that make your taste buds do the limbo. From zesty ceviche to fresh lobster, each plate is a flavour fiesta. And that apple crumple pie with nutmeg ice cream? It's like a dessert mic-drop.

If your taste buds need a holiday, Dexter's is the one-way ticket to Caribbean culinary bliss. You'll leave full, happy, and probably planning your next visit. A five course dinner nothing short of spectacular. Five course meal from £130-143.

Friday's Restaurant & Bar

For a weekend vibe any day of the week head to Friday’s Restaurant & Bar. It’s a bubbly family run business proving all your sports entertainment, traditional island breakfast and the Spice Island's punchy drink locals call, “Under The Counter” or “Bush Rum.”

It's a well known drink that the local's (and now we) know and love. It’s usually made with Grenada’s white “overproof” Rivers Rum (more on this later) and aged with herbs and spices including lemon grass, ginger, and nutmeg. You can find it cheap at every bar on the island and just about every Grenadian's home as a welcome drink.

Esther’s Bar

Esther's Bar, by Grand Anse's Craft & Spice Market, is an an instant favourite. Boasting amazing drinks and an even better atmosphere that's off the charts! The shelves are like a mixologist's playground, crafting next-level Mojitos, Moscow mules, and Rum Punch. One you'll want to visit every time you're on the island.
