Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (née Bouvier—and affectionately known as Jackie O) was known for a lot of things: her style, her love of decorating, her beauty and yes, her proclivity for horseback riding. This past week, the East Hampton property where Kennedy Onassis learned to ride horses as a child sold, reports Mansion Global.
Totalling at 2,000 square feet, the space is among the smaller properties of Kennedy Onassis’s youth—the Washington, DC home her family owned during her childhood is 23,000 square feet, with an elevator and two pools among its amenities, and her childhood summer home in the Hamptons sits on over 7 acres of land.

The three bedroom, three bathroom property was built as a residence in 1745, but between 1924 and 1943, and overlapping with the former first lady’s tenure in the Hamptons, the home served as a clubhouse for the East Hampton Riding Club. The single family property sits on close to an acre of land and its fireplace-centered downstairs seating rooms make it easy to picture as a place for equestrians to socialize. The house was declared an East Hampton Special Historic Landmark and is accordingly loaded with rustic charm, including a wood shingled roof, pumpkin pine flooring, wall-panelling in select rooms, and in one bedroom, the preserved original riding lockers.

If all that history isn’t enough of a draw, the new owners of the property are permitted to build a second home on the lot—a rarity for East Hampton. The final selling price is currently unknown, though Mansion Global reports that it fetched a sum close to its asking price of $1.749 million.
