If you were fully ready to cozy up into fall vibes, Christina Aguilera wants you to think twice. The musician is clinging to the summer with her latest makeup look and now I'm questioning everything I ever knew about seasonal shades.

Aguilera wore a shimmery green eye to host a Climate Reality Project event at her California home, ditching the more traditionally "fall" hues of gold, bronze, burgundy and chocolate in favor of a fresh, bright light green. It's not kelly green, it's not evergreen, it's not hunter green — it's a pure, pristine pale green that provides a fun contrast against the pop icon's chartreuse Vivienne Westwood gown. Makeup artist Etienne Ortega, who frequently works with Aguilera, applied the shimmery and springy shade all over her lids and under her lower lashlines, adding a hint of crystalline white to her inner corners for extra brightness. Ortega then applied some majorly thick and fluttery false lashes, defined her brows and fluffed on a bit of peachy blush and golden highlighter. Aguilera's lips were the only thing giving autumn vibes; Ortega lined them with a rosewood liner and used a similar tone lip gloss for just a hint of fall romance.

Celebs have been having fun playing with the notion of seasonal shades — or disputing it entirely. For example, Selena Gomez gave me the chills with her icy blue eye shadow in Paris, then did a total 180 with a red and pink Moulin Rouge!-inspired style. Beyoncé, like Aguilera, gave green a go during her Renaissance tour, pairing it with red nail polish and avoiding all Christmas comparisons entirely. Bored with bronze and gold? Why not peruse our Best of Beauty winners for new eye shadow formulas to re-ignite your creativity? Maybe you can't sing like Aguilera — and really, who can? — but you can glam like her!
