Prannoy Roy’s Dekoder Is Coming – He’s Back With AI-Driven Election Analysis, Global Trends

Edited by Dileep Kumar S

Founder and former executive chairperson of NDTV, Dr. Prannoy Roy, has announced his return to business with dekoder.com, described as “one of India’s first AI-Driven Digital Content Platforms for the analysis of elections and global trends.”

In an announcement by the journalist-economist-psephologist Dr. Roy, it was revealed that the website and app of the platform will be available soon in 15 different Indian languages.

According to Dr. Roy, recognized as a pioneer in election analysis and TV news journalism in India, dekoder.com will feature the largest stock of information and data on elections and world events, including “The World This Week” (TWTW).

TWTW, a news bulletin broadcast weekly on the national broadcaster Doordarshan during the late 1980s and the first half of the 1990s, played a pivotal role in establishing Dr. Roy and NDTV on the map of Indian journalism. The show became an instant hit, bringing major historical events such as the Tiananmen Square protests in China, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and the breakup of Yugoslavia, to Indian households.

“The aim of artificial intelligence on dekoder is to enable you to do your own analysis. The launch of dekoder will be done step-by-step over the next few weeks and months,” stated Dr. Roy in the announcement video.

Earlier, NDTV founders, Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy sold 27.26 percent of the 32.26 percent remaining, after Adani Group became major shareholders of the network. Adani Group became the major shareholder after AMG Media Networks, the media arms of the group, acquired thirty percent share.

On November 2022, both the Roys had left their role as the directors of the Company.

Following this, many senior journalists and officials resigned from the New Delhi-based media house, including former CEO and group president Suparna Singh, famous Hindi journalist and Ramon Magsaysay Award winner Ravish Kumar, group editor Sreenivasan Jain, senior English journalist and executive editor Nidhi Razdan, senior editor Sarah Jacob, CTO Kawaljit Singh Bedi, and managing editor Chetan Bhattacharya.
