Verdigris Agaric (stropharia aeruginosa)

Stropharia Aeruginosa, commonly known as the Verdigris Agaric, is a medium-sized turquoise, slimy woodland mushroom. It is usually found on woodchip mulch, rotten wood, and sometimes on lawns. We're including it in our species list as a child spotted this particular one (in the photo) whilst on an autumn school visit to Scotswood Garden. What an amazing find!

At first, it's a beautiful blue/green colour; gradually over time, the colour fades and the mushroom develops yellow-brown patches. This fungus is believed to be poisonous.
