Actor Vincent Gallo has been accused of making sexually explicit and threatening comments by two actresses, according to a report from Rolling Stone.

In November 2023, the two women were auditioning for The Policeman when Gallo allegedly made sexually explicit comments. The two auditioned for the film's roles of victims opposite Gallo’s character, “Golden State Killer” Joseph James DeAngelo.

The actresses then filed complaints to the SAG-AFTRA union about Gallo’s behavior during the casting process. The union then responded by launching an investigation into the casting of the movie.

A spokesperson for SAG-AFTRA confirms with PEOPLE that an investigation began after the complaints were filed.

“We are aware of these complaints and are investigating. We extensively engaged with production regarding the complaints and, while shooting has wrapped, we continue to monitor and investigate. We also reaffirm our commitment to ensuring a safe and respectful environment on set," they said.

Additionally, “Gallo did not respond to multiple requests for comment,” per Rolling Stone.

Representatives for Pacific Media Productions and director Jordan Gertner told the publication, “The production of the picture was carried out in a safe, protective, and respectful environment." They also shared that a SAG-AFTRA intimacy coordinator was hired for the production.

Representatives for Pacific Media Productions did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment. Contact information for Gallo was not available.

The actresses provided pseudonyms “Emily” and “Jane” to Rolling Stone in an effort to keep their anonymity.

Emily reportedly claimed that Gallo told her during her callback that the movie was seeking “an actor with absolutely no boundaries as he, while playing DeAngelo, could decide at any moment during the shoot to improvise lines and sexual acts.”

Per Rolling Stone’s report, Gallo allegedly told Emily that he would “make sure” that “everything is simulated” and would be created to look “real.”

“I will also make sure that it feels real for you," Gallo said, per Emily's complaint. "I may also notice something about your body and comment on it, and it could be positive or negative, and it won’t be personal, but it will be something real, so that it feels personal.”

Gallo allegedly told Emily that during the production, “We don’t want to see any acting. If DeAngelo says, 'Don’t scream,' or 'I’ll kill you,' you do not scream, because if you do, you die.”

According to Rolling Stone, Emily claimed that Gallo told her if she abided by his requests she would have been cast in the role.

Jane alleged in her complaint, as reported by Rolling Stone, that Gallo detailed “torture porn fantasies.” He also allegedly informed Jane he wanted the film to be improvised and that the script “would bear very little resemblance to what was going to be filmed.”

Per Jane’s complaint, the actor shared that improvisations could include simulating rape, murder or physical assault as well as pushing her, pulling her hair and hog-tying her with shoelaces.

Similar to Emily, Jane alleged she was informed by Gallo that if she took the role, she would have to consent to everything, and there would be “zero negotiations about what was being done” to her on set, or she would be fired, according to the report.
