Taylor Swift Shares the Most Sentimental Decor in Her NYC Home — Like a Gift from Stevie Nicks in the Kitchen

Among the singer's favorite personal effects in her NYC home are gifts from music superstars and a photo of her opera singer grandma

There are a few personal effects in Taylor Swift’s New York City apartment that make it really feel like home.

In an interview with Time for her 2023 Person of the Year cover, the singer lifted the lid on some of the sentimental decor she keeps in her home, giving fans a glimpse into her life behind closed doors.

Swift, 33, told the outlet that among the items she loves most are a photo of her grandmother, Marjorie, who was an opera singer and inspired an eponymous — and fan-favorite — track on her 2020 album Evermore

She’s also the proud owner of a Stevie Nicks Barbie doll, which remains in its box and sits in her kitchen. Swift shared that the doll was sent to her by Nicks herself, who once told the outlet: “I don’t give Taylor advice about being famous. She doesn’t need it.”

Joining Nicks in Swift’s dwelling is a gift of sorts from another legendary singer-songwriter: Paul McCartney. She keeps a framed letter from the Beatles singer in her bathroom, she revealed.

Like Nicks, McCartney, 81, has previously praised Swift. He revealed to the BBC that she inspired his songwriting for 2018’s “Who Cares” and told Rolling Stone that he wanted to perform “Shake It Off” with her at Glastonbury before the festival was canceled due to the pandemic.

The final item that's highlighted by Time as a favorite in her apartment is the tiles that decorate her fireplace, which she found while shopping with her mom, Andrea, in Paris. She told the outlet of her relationship with her family: “My dad, my mom, and my brother come up with some of the best ideas in my career.”

She added, “I always joke that we’re a small family business.”

New York City has long been a place the 12-time Grammy winner has called home — and a source of inspiration for her music — since she moved to the city in 2014.

Between 1989's “Welcome to New York” and Lover’s “Cornelia Street,” the Big Apple has featured in some of her most beloved songs. The property that inspired the latter, her former rental home in the West Village, quickly became a hub for Swifties visiting the city.

Swift lived in the luxe townhouse in 2016, when her primary abode was undergoing a renovation. She reportedly paid $38,000 a month to stay in the four-bedroom, five-bathroom apartment, which also features two half baths with "dramatic double height ceilings."

Earlier this year, the unit went up for sale for a whopping $18 million, though the listing is no longer available.

The apartment features three gas fireplaces, hardwood floors and even boasts an elevator. The crown jewel of the unit, though, is its private indoor pool, which spans more than 30 feet. The area behind the pool opens up to an outdoor patio.

When the “Cruel Summer” crooner rented the unit, it was owned by Soho House executive David Aldea, who told Vulture that it was love at first sight for Swift.

"She walked in, and I'll never forget this — she said, 'Oooh, it's so crafty,'" Aldea told the outlet. "And in Taylor-speak, that means 'I like everything.' She asked if she could rent not just the house but my style as well. So towels and dishes and glassware and furniture and just kind of 'Take your clothes and go.' So I did. She was an absolute delight to deal with."
