Although they are generally peaceful, shy or submissive fish should be removed if they are unable to compete. Suitable tank mates for Discus include cardinal tetras, neons, emperor and rummynose tetras, clown loaches, and dwarf cichlids such as rams and Apistogramma species. These fish can tolerate the high temperatures and low pH/hardness required by Discus.
