Luxury car maker Rolls-Royce has unveiled its first electric car. The new car in Rolls-Royce’s stable is called Spectre, and it’s every bit true to the legacy of the company in terms of opulence and grandeur.

During the launch, Rolls-Royce termed Spectre the ultra-luxury Electric Super Coupé. The car comes in a three-door configuration. The car maker regarded the erstwhile Phantom Coupé as the “spiritual predecessor” of the Spectre. The interior of the Spectre, as one expects from a Rolls-Royce, is super luxurious, and on the outside, the EV maintains charm and stately elegance.

Spectre has a range of 520km, thanks to an electric motor capable of developing 577bhp and 900nm of torque. And the car is fast, just like the Rolls-Royce Ghost, doing a 0-100km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds.

Jack Rix, editor at Top Gear, said that electric vehicle and Rolls-Royce is a combination that was meant to work, like Tom Cruise and aviators. Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, presented a quote from Charles Rolls, the co-founder of the brand. Rolls said in 1900 that the electric car was perfectly noiseless and clean. He'd added that the electric car did not have vibrations and would be useful once we had fixed charging stations.

Booking for the new Rolls-Royce Spectre is now open. Deliveries will begin only in the latter half of 2023.
