Aditya Chopra’s newfound fame after The Romantics has become a ‘big problem’ at home, says Rani Mukerji

She continued, “I chose right, because I didn’t want to choose a person who is outgoing outgoing. I’m happy at home, he’s happy at home, we both are happy at home. It would’ve been really difficult if I had a husband who was like, ‘Hey, let’s go out partying’. I’d be like, ‘Really? Is staying in bed really that bad?’ I chose right in that department. He doesn’t force me to go anywhere, I don’t force him to go anywhere. We are so happy being at home.” Rani said that after The Romantics, she is a little surprised at his enthusiasm about going out. “It’s become a big problem, because I chose to marry a guy who isn’t known (publicly).”

Rani, who is in the process of putting together her memoirs, said that Aditya has ‘no choice’ in consenting to the inclusion of stories about him in the book. Rani joked that her husband is too ‘shy’ to talk about the influence she has had on his life, but also pointed out how they complement each other. “We are that couple that has mutual respect for each other,” she said, adding, “We also discuss each other’s work because we are from the same fraternity. Luckily, we are in the same profession. There are times when he talks to me about his work, there are times when I talk to him about the work that I’m doing, and it’s lovely…”

She said that because they respect each other so deeply, it becomes easier to communicate ‘without any agenda or ego or judgement’. She said that she can easily offer counter-opinions with regards to a film that he may be developing, and he can question her career choices as an actor. “I enjoy his success as much as he enjoys mine,” she said, adding, “When Pathaan became a big hit, I celebrated more than him.” Rani and Aditya tied the knot in 2014, and welcomed daughter Adira one year later. She was last seen in the film Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway.
