Ralph Fiennes

Summary

Ralph Fiennes was born on December 22, 1962 in Suffolk, England. He was educated at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and eventually joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1988. He made his film debut in 1992 in Wuthering Heights, but his breakout role was in Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. More recently, he portrayed William Cavendish, The Duke of Devonshire, in the film "The Duchess" starring Keira Knightly.

In 1996 he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for the World War II epic romance The English Patient. Fiennes' has acted in a wide range of film genres including the Silence of the Lamb sequel Red Dragon and the animated tale The Prince of Egypt.

In 2005, Fiennes was cast as Lord Voldemort in fifth installment of the Harry Potter series. He will also continue this role into the sixth and possible seventh films.

Fiennes is a UNICEF ambassador, but in February 2007, on the way to India to participate in an AIDS awareness rally for the organization, was caught in the lavatory with the airplane’s flight attendant. The attendant later admitted having unprotected sex with the actor. In March of the same year, Fiennes was caught in the pool of a Belgium hotel, naked with four women.

He us currently single, but was married to ER actress Alex Kingston from 1993 to 1997.
