Orlando Bloom is an actor who was born in Canterbury, Kent, England on January 13, 1977.
He joined the National Youth theater in London in 1993 where he won a scholarship to the British American Drama Academy. After earning some small television roles, Bloom enrolled in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he studied acting, sculpture and photography. Two days after his graduation he was cast in a blockbuster series of films from Peter Jackson, as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings. To commemorate the success of The Lord of the Rings, he and some of his cast mates got matching tattoos.
In another trilogy of films, Bloom starred opposite Johnny Depp and Keira Knightly, in The Pirates of the Carribean.
As of May 2007, Bloom had appeared in four of the fifteen highest grossing films of all time.
Bloom is a Buddhist, practitioner of yoga and Pilates and is part of Global Green, an environmental preservation company.
