Johnson/HBO Paquin was one of the first of the original True Blood cast members to respond to the news that the Home Box Office network is in the early process of rebooting the show, which was inspired by The Southern Vampire Mysteries books by author Charlaine Harris. "Well, this is the first I'm hearing about this," the actress behind waitress Sookie Stackhouse tweeted. She then clarified she's "not mad" over the news, "just answering the question that has inundated" her Twitter feed. Responding to Paquin, Denis O'Hare, who played vampire Russell Edgington, remarked, "Me too..." As EW reported on Wednesday, Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and NOS4A2 showrunner Jami O'Brien wrote a script on spec for a reboot, but no deals have yet to be signed. Alan Ball, the original showrunner of True Blood, will be involved behind the scenes as an executive producer. HBO declined to comment and, given the current state of the project, it makes sense that this is the first the original cast would be hearing about this. Harris herself didn't seem to know, either. "To my amazement, Variety has announced that a reboot of 'True Blood' is in early stages of development at HBO. That's absolutely all I know," she tweeted. Deborah Ann Woll, who played Jessica on True Blood, retweeted Harris's statement. True Blood, first premiering on HBO in 2008, followed the story of Sookie, a telepath from Bon Temps, La., who falls in love with a vampire named Bill (Stephen Moyer) and becomes involved with all manner of magical creatures. The show ran for seven seasons and helped propel actors like Moyer, Woll, Alexander Skarsgard, Rutina Wesley, Joe Manganiello, and Ryan Kwanten to popularity.
