EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University men’s and women’s cross country teams head to Bloomsburg on Saturday for the 2023 PSAC Championships at the BU Cross Country.

How to Follow:

The women’s squad kicks off the championship at 10 a.m. with the 6K, followed by the men’s 8K race at 11:00 a.m.

The top 15 runners in each race will garner First Team All-PSAC honors, while the 16th-30th place finishers will receive Second Team All-PSAC recognition.

The men’s squad opened the 2023 season with a runner-up finish at the Adelphi Panthers XC Invite as sophomore Landon Boyle paced the Warriors in third. ESU proceeded to take 10th out of 39 teams at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, 12th of 34 teams at Lehigh’s Paul Short run and eighth at the Bloomsburg Invitational two weekends ago.

Boyle has paced the Warriors at all four events this year and will look to build off his 37th place finish a season ago at the championships. The Warriors also feature a number of talented freshmen including Ethan Holcomb, Bryce Keenoy, Liam Hansberry, Cory Miduri, Jack Becker and Tim Gale.

2022: 9th
2021: 12th
2020-21: 7th
2019: 4th

The women’s team will look to make some noise at this year’s conference championship as ESU builds off of a successful regular season that saw the Warriors take first place overall at the Adelphi Panthers XC Invite for the program's first team title since Oct. 19, 2018. Additionally, ESU was seventh of 37 teams at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, eighth of 36 teams at Lehigh’s Paul Short Run and eighth at the Bloomsburg Invitational.

Bri Hennett has made an immediate impact with the freshman earning a pair of PSAC Athlete of the Week honors as well as being ESU’s top finisher at all three events she competed in. Graduate student Holly Chambers, sophomore Megan Elgrim, Hennett as well as fellow classmates Carla Bautista, Payton Falkenstein, Gabriela Orama, Kiera Wimbush and Mia Sisilli seek ESU’s first top-10 finish in two seasons.

Regional Rankings: The women's team will enter the postseason ranked No. 9 in the most recent (Oct. 10) U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Atlantic Region Poll while the men's team comes in at No. 10.

At the 2022 PSAC Championships, the men’s recorded a ninth place finish and were led by assistant coach Luke Valdevit, who captured Second Team All-PSAC honors. On the women’s side, ESU will look to build off a 17th place as the Warriors return four of five runners and feature a promising freshman crop.
