The California Pitcher Plant (Darlingtonia californica) is a carnivorous, herbaceous perennial plant native to the coastal bogs and mountain streams of the west coast of Oregon and California. It is the only species in the genus Darlingtonia.
The plant has large, tubular leaves that trap water and insects. The leaves are green and translucent, with a hood and appendages that resemble a cobra's head.
