This fluffy stem plant is relatively new to the aquarium hobby and can be used in a variety of placements!

Pogostemon erectus (Pogostemon erectus) is a relatively newly cultivated stem plant that has recently developed some notice in the aquarium hobby. Native to Western India, it is distinctive due to its fluffy, conifer-like leaves. Under very high lighting, this plant will sometimes stay very dense and compact, making it possible to keep and maintain in the foreground and midground. It is otherwise best kept in the background. This plant is known to sometimes grow even in brackish water.

Care for Pogostemon erectus is similar to many other stem plants. It is best placed in the middle ground or background and will look its best under high lighting. It grows quickly with good maintenance and care. Like many plants, this plant will respond significantly to CO2. It can be planted in the substrate and stems of excessive length can be trimmed, then the cuttings can be replanted to increase the bunch. It can also be planted emersed in terrariums, paludariums, and viquariums.

This listing is for the tissue culture form of Pogostemon erectus. Tissue cultures are superior to traditional forms of aquarium plants in many ways. They are produced in a completely sterile environment which eliminates the possibility of them carrying pest snails or algae spores. They have a shelf life (before introduction to the aquarium) of several months if properly maintained and they are housed in a nutrient gel until introduced to the aquarium. To introduce a tissue culture plant to the aquarium, simply rinse off as much nutrient gel as possible, then plant as usual. The nutrient gel will not harm your aquarium.

Packaging may vary. Tissue Culture plants may arrive in bag or cup form.
