This offering is for 3 Natural Phragmites Australis cane drawing pens. These 3 pens are handcrafted from select 10-14 mm cane found adjacent to the root and middle sections of the plants. Each Phragmites pen is balanced on a node for grip placement and then the nib is cut in front of this node. Pen length averages 6-10" and reflects the inclination of the cane.
The natural flexibility of Phragmites Australis makes it ideal for the expressive line and its interesting coloration and patina resemble tortoiseshell when sealed. Phragmites' pen tips become fragile with time unless saturated with ink. Green Phragmites, made from freshly harvested cane have a longer shelf life.
