Illinois Bundleflower, Desmanthus illinoensis

Illinois bundleflower is considered one of the most important native prairie legumes. Its uses range from nutritious food for livestock to food and cover for wildlife, such as deer and antelope, birds and rodents. The plant can range from 24” to 5 feet in height, and can become a full bush. Tiny white flowers turn to glossy brown pods in late fall and winter, making it a handsome plant year-round.
