  • This is a unique, seed-grown Australian cultivar of Echinopsis pachanoi. It is not known by any specific clone name, and we do not feel it’s necessary to give it one. The seed was originally purchased in the 1990’s from another Australian cactus grower. This grower harvested the seeds from their own plants which were sown with seed imported from South America in the 1980’s.

We have a wide range of cutting sizes available, and a choice between top cuts or mid cuts. Mid cuts are a great option if you’re looking to grow “log style” and save a few bucks! Please note that 75-80cm mid cuts will almost always be sent as 2x 40cm mid cuts. The minimum lineal length you will receive is 75cm.

All cuttings are taken from seed-grown mother plants in Queensland that are over 25 years old, dipped in sulphur powder and allowed to dry.

These cuttings have not been treated with rooting hormone. Whilst we endorse the benefits of IBA rooting powder, we are conscious that it may violate organic gardening principles and we believe the buyer has the right to decide whether they want to use it. If you’d like to purchase rooting hormone powder, we sell it here.

  • Originally from the Andes Mountains of Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and northern Argentina. The San Pedro cactus has a long and rich history of cultural significance to the First Nations People of South America.

  • Once established (rooted) Echinopsis Pachanoi is a hardy plant, tolerant of a wide range of conditions.

    Full sun preferable

    60/40 organic/mineral soil mixture

    Water well in Spring/Summer

  • Vigorous growth once established. Mature plants can grow 30-60cm per year.

Maximum column height is 5-7 metres in the ground.

Height can be restricted by keeping the plant in pots.

  • One of the biggest concerns for buying plants online is their safe delivery. Even cacti, which are known for being hardier than your average houseplant can get pretty banged up in a distribution centre by a careless worker. But at Cactus Culture Australia we have perfected our cactus packaging and can boast a 100% (yes, really, 100%) safe delivery rate. Our perfect track record is thanks to the medium-density foam we surround our cacti with inside the box. What’s even better is that we source this foam from a factory and save it from going to landfill - pretty great, huh?

We are so confident in the safe delivery of our plants that if your plant shows up damaged/broken, we will replace it for you free of charge (you will need to send us the damaged one back, and we’ll pay the shipping).

  • Products are not cut to order, if the item is in stock that means it is ready for dispatch. Your order will be dispatched on the Monday following your order being placed. If we are out of stock on an item, please enter your email to be notified when it comes back in stock. We are constantly updating our website inventory to be accurate of our ready-to-send stock.

We CAN ONLY ship this product to the following States and Territories: Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Australian Capital Territory and South Australia.

Unfortunately, due to biosecurity restrictions, we CANNOT ship this product to Western Australia, Northern Territory, Tasmania or Internationally (outside of Australia).
