The story behind the image
In 2006 we joined my father-in-law on his yacht for a two-week trip cruising the Danish part of the Baltic Sea. We stayed for one night in Marstal. Just a short walk away from the harbor is the public beach with several small bath houses. The first couple of houses had been built in 1920. Some were used just to change clothes and store beach accessories, others were fully equipped for use as mini holiday homes.
When we walked up to the beach we discovered this beautiful bath house. It yelled ‘Nordic’ to me with its bright colors. I liked the idea that the yacht harbor could be seen in the background. But – sadly – I had just my tiny P&S camera with me, and the quality is just okay-ish. It’s sufficient for a postcard, but not for posters or high-end prints. Having said that, it’s amazing that this image is straight from the original file with virtually no editing by me at all.
