2012 at Hospice of the Golden
She was born on June 21,
1924 on a farm in Tellico
Plains, Tennessee, where her
parents William Thomas and
Winnie Jane Hunt Crowe, lovingly
raised her. Her education
touch many lives through her
work, retiring in 1995, after 30
years of service. She was a
the world a better place for
being in it. Words cannot express
how much her vibrant
and loving spirit will be missed.
We will see you in Heaven!
Her special ministry was sending
notes of encouragement
on every occasion and visiting
the sick and infirm. Her Christian
witness was a blessing to
Monitors for the
United Nations came
under gunfire at the scene
of last week’s Syrian massacre
on Thursday after
the unarmed observers
said they were initially denied
access to the scene in
central Hama province
where as many as 100 persons
were slaughtered.
The Regime of President
Bashar al-Assad denied
the claims as “absolutely
baseless.”
Earlier, the United
States and its allies in Europe,
Turkey, and the Arab
world agreed on Wednesday
to work for a political
transition plan for Syria
while at the same time
persuading Assad’s ally
Russia to join the diplomatic
effort. The push includes
a structured end to
the four-decade Assad
regime.
In a news conference in
Kabul, U.S. Defense Secretary
to root out the terrorist
Haqqani network in
the country. Panetta said
Pakistan was “a safe
haven” for terrorist
groups, including
Haqqani.
On Wednesday, the
Obama administration offered
rewards of up to $33
million for information
about top members of an
Islamist extremist group
in Somali that has been
linked to al-Qaida. The
reward targets seven leaders
of the al-Shebab militia
movement and would be
administered by the State
Department’s Rewards for
Justice program.
The one-time number
in Baghdad, the Iraqi Justice
Ministry said on
Thursday. Abed Hamid
of Saddam Hussein, became
the latest in a series
of ex-senior regime officials
The president of
Paraguay, a former Roman
Catholic bishop, admitted
on Wednesday he was the
father of a ten-year-old
male love child after meeting
with the boy’s mother
when she came to him for
According to a new poll
by CBS News and the
New York Times on
Thursday, seven in ten
Americans want the
Supreme Court to either
overturn President
Obama’s health care law
or strike down the individual
mandate. The polling
revealed that only 24 percent,
or one in four,
wanted the law upheld.
Meanwhile, saying
nothing with regard to
June 6’s “D-Day” military
veteran annual observance,
President Obama
got a warm welcome from
the gay community in Los
Angeles on Wednesday as
he began a two-day
fundraising swing through
California. Republicans in
Washington criticized the
chief executive for “spending
too much time with
celebrity Democrats,” citing
NATIONWIDE
“wealthy and famous” in
the entertainment and
tech communities.
U.S. scientists reported
on Thursday the spring of
2012 was the warmest on
record for the contiguous
48 states of the nation,
recording the largest variance
ever for any season
on record. Researchers
with the National Oceanic
and Atmospheric Administration
said the springtime
was 5.2 degrees
warmer than average, hovering
around 57 degrees
overall.
Federal prosecutors on
Wednesday indicted a U.S.
Army soldier who falsely
claimed to have fought in
Vietnam and Afghanistan
and said he earned two
Purple Hearts and a
Bronze Star for heroism.
Command Sergeant
Major William John Ray,
57, was charged with lying
as he sought disability,
medical, and educational
benefits from the Department
of Veterans Affairs
after he presented bogus
evidence of combat
wounds and bravery in action.
The National Interagency
Fire Center said on
Thursday that eastern Arizona,
western New Mexico,
western Colorado, and
eastern Utah have abovenormal
risks for wildfires
this summer, though Texas
– all of the state – did not
make the list. The omission
of the Lone Star State
was a big change from last
year, when more than
30,000 separate fires
burned across Texas, destroying
3,000 homes,
forcing tens of thousands
of residents to flee, and
causing over $6 billion in
damages.
The Justice Department
said on Thursday a
frightening new drug
abuse trend has begun to
emerge across the United
States as a national crackdown
has tightened on
prescription painkillers
and driven users to another
type of opiate that is
cheap, powerful, and even
more destructive – heroin.
Officials with Health Recovery
Services said a
flood of cheap “horse”
from Mexico is the leading
source of the narcotic into
the U.S.
And a couple proposing
marriage in a hot air balloon
in Indiana on
Wednesday got the shock
of its life when the balloon
crashed into power lines
shortly after the bride-tobe
said yes, yes, oh yes, yes.
The pilot and the woman
were treated for burns at
the scene after the pilot
was knocked unconscious
by an electric shock and
fell onto the bride. The
groom, however, saved the
day and revived the pilot
on the ground by performing
CPR before the adoring
eyes of his beloved.
Charged by Sweetwater
Police Patrol Officer
Daniel Johnson with theft
over $500 was Eric Van
Camp, 23, of County Road
456.
Johnson said he was
dispatched to Overhill
Drive, where a resident
told him that Van Camp
had taken a $2,000 television
from her house. She
said that Van Camp had
stayed with her the night
before and had boasted
about stealing televisions
from persons who allowed
him to stay with them.
When she awoke on
June 8, 2012
Wednesday, she said she
found her 55-inch flatscreen
television missing
from her living room.
When Johnson made contact
with Van Camp following
a truck crash on
Monroe Street, Van Camp
admitted to taking the set
and selling it.
Van Camp, however,
would not tell Johnson
where or to whom he sold
the television.
