ESG in M&A

Environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors are no longer simply a nice-to-have green check mark for businesses. They’re often either mandated by regulations, demanded by clients and partners, or both. As the importance of ESG in business continues to increase, both investment decisions and business process organisation now require skilful navigation of the regulatory landscape.

At Sorainen we invest in educating clients and the market in general on ESG matters. This includes organising webinars, producing informative newsletters, accepting speaking opportunities, and establishing partnerships. That’s why we’re proud to be launching a regional series of webinars focusing on ESG transitions in the Baltic region.

The first webinar was devoted to supply chain management. You can find the webinar materials here and here.

The second webinar, which will take place on 12 December, will be devoted to ESG in M&A transactions.

ESG principles in M&A

Our second regional webinar will focus on ESG in M&A – an area which is gaining immense prominence in today’s business world. It will feature speakers from Europe, including the Baltics, who will both cover the practical aspects of the implementation of ESG factors in the investment process and share their experience.

Guest speaker Ruta Skarulske, head of ESG & Impact at Contrarian Ventures, will speak about the importance of ESG factors when choosing investments and about how to evaluate the benefits of ESG factors and their possible impact.

We will also be joined by Martina Farkas, Corporate/M&A partner at Linklaters LLP. Martina will present the M&A transaction cycles, with further details regarding at which stages ESG-related topics may become relevant.

Another guest speaker is Jurgita Giržadienė, Sustainability & Better Planet Packaging director at Smurfit Kappa, one of the largest paper-based packaging producers in the world. Jurgita will give an overview of company’s sustainability agenda and targets, as well as sharing how Smurfit Kappa integrated acquisitions into its sustainability reporting and baseline.

Finally, there will be a discussion and Q&A session moderated by Vitalija Impolevičienė, the ESG service line leader at Sorainen’s Lithuanian office.

The webinar shouldn’t be missed by investors, asset managers, sustainability executives, legal and compliance experts, M&A professionals and anyone interested in the intersection of ESG and M&A.

Experienced in ESG and beyond

At Sorainen we’ve established a well-deserved reputation for working on matters that make the region greener, safer  and fairer. The Sorainen ESG service line is dedicated to helping clients navigate the constantly changing landscape of sustainability-related regulation.
