DMSO Gel is a veterinary critical care product intended for use as a solvent only. DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide) is a wood by-product that is used most widely as a topical analgesic and is able to carry other compounds rapidly through the skin. It is approved for use only in horses and dogs, and may help improve pain and inflammation caused by arthritis in horses.
DMSO serves as a carrier agent in promoting the absorption of other compounds, such as medications, that normally would not penetrate the skin. Wear rubber gloves when applying topically, and apply with clean or sterile cotton to minimize the chances for contaminating with potentially harmful substances.
