US-based spine and orthopaedics company Orthofix Medical has commercially launched its Lattus Lateral Access System and the Fathom Pedicle-Based Retractor System for minimally invasive spine (MIS) procedures.
The two latest access retractor systems, designed to aid surgeons during MIS procedures, expand Orthofix’s offering of access solutions.
Orthofix Medical has developed the Lattus Lateral Access System for ease of use and versatility. The system’s independent blade retraction strength along with the down-and-out splay feature offers access to difficult anatomy.
The Lattus retractor system optimises the lateral operation with a full set of equipment that makes it simple to use the company’s WaveForm L and Regatta NanoMetalene interbody devices.
The Fathom Pedicle-Based Retractor System has three points of active telescoping blade fixation that enable the surgeon to regulate the length of each blade and dial in a customised lateral to medial tilt, offering a rigid construct to address the different anatomy of each patient.
Orthofix said that the Fathom also allows a reproducible surgical workflow that increases visualisation with minimal soft tissue disruption.
It complements the firm’s complete Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF) procedural solutions portfolio.

In January this year, Orthofix and SeaSpine completed their previously announced merger of equals to launch a global spine and orthopaedics organisation.
Recently, the combined company introduced its Mariner Deformity Pedicle Screw System and reported the first patient cases using the product.
