Courteney Cox Responds to Kanye West's ''Friends' Wasn't Funny' Jibe

Courteney Cox has replied to Kanye West, after the rapper and fashion designer took a swipe at her classic sitcom Friends.

West, who has legally changed his name to Ye, wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post that certain screenshots purporting to show statements written by the star had been fabricated.

The father of four, 45, then wrote about a viral tweet from October 2020: "I know you guys gonna be disappointed but I actually didn't write the [tweet] that said 'Friends wasn't funny either' but I wish I had."

Cox, who played Monica Geller on the NBC hit, reacted to West's post by sharing a video clip of herself reading the "Flashing Lights" singer's comments on her show.

"I bet the old Kayne thought Friends was funny," Cox wrote in an accompanying caption, along with a sad-face emoji.

In the video, Cox, 58, is shown listening to West's 2008 hit "Heartless" while scrolling through her phone. She is seen focusing on West's post about the Friends tweet, with the statement in question and the musician's Instagram handle highlighted.

Looking unimpressed, Cox then abruptly turns off the speaker that had been playing West's music before she storms off.

Back in October 2020, multiple news outlets had reported that the comment about Friends was shared on West's Twitter account in reaction to another post.

Cox's Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston, 53, took to Instagram to share a photo of herself sending off her mail-in ballot for the presidential election, when she explained her reasons for voting for eventual victors Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

"This whole thing isn't about one candidate or one single issue, it's about the future of this country and of the world," she wrote toward the end of her lengthy caption. "Vote for equal human rights, for love, and for decency."

Aniston added: "PS—It's not funny to vote for Kanye. I don't know how else to say it. Please be responsible."

West, who was then drawing to the end of his disastrous 2020 presidential campaign, shared a screenshot of a Vanity Fair article bearing the headline, "Jennifer Aniston Endorses Joe Biden, Tells Fans 'It's Not Funny to Vote for Kanye.'"

Captioning the since-deleted post, West referred to his interview with Joe Rogan, writing: "Wow 😳 that Rogan interview got em shook Let's gooooooooo."

According to Cosmopolitan, a quickly deleted follow-up tweet from West's account read: "Friends wasn't funny either."

One-time Donald Trump supporter West announced his bid for the White House on the Fourth of July, 2020—revealing that he was running as an Independent under the "Birthday Party."

The "Jesus Is King" artist appeared on pre-printed ballots in just 12 states after he failed to meet deadlines and other requirements needed to run in all 50 states.

He appeared on the ticket for Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah and Vermont. West was also strongly advocating for his supporters to write his name in on their ballots.

Across the states where he appeared on the ballot, West received fewer than 60,000 votes. He found the most success in Tennessee, where he won more than 10,000 votes, 0.3 percent of the state's total.
