The Green Fire Tetra, scientifically known as Aphyocharax rathbuni, is a captivating and vibrant freshwater fish prized for its distinctive appearance and social behavior. Originating from the clearwater streams and tributaries of South America, particularly in the Rio Orinoco and Rio Negro basins, Green Fire Tetras are known for their striking red coloration and distinct black markings, including a dark line running through their eye. Their school's tight formation and synchronized movements make them a captivating addition to any well-maintained aquarium.

Origin: Green Fire Tetras are native to South America, specifically in the Rio Orinoco and Rio Negro basins.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for Green Fire Tetras is between 24°C to 28°C (75°F to 82°F).

Water Quality: They thrive in soft to moderately hard water with a pH range of 5.5 to 7.5.

Aquarium Size: A tank of at least 75 liters is recommended for a school of Green Fire Tetras. They are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least six individuals. The tank should be well-planted with open areas for swimming.

Feeding: Green Fire Tetras are omnivores and can be fed a diet of high-quality flake or pellet food, supplemented with live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, or bloodworms for nutritional variety.

Lifespan: With proper care, Green Fire Tetras typically live for about 3 to 5 years in captivity.

Behavior and Personality: These tetras are known for their peaceful and sociable nature. They are excellent community fish and get along well with other non-aggressive species. Green Fire Tetras are best appreciated when kept in a school, as their tight formations and synchronized swimming create a mesmerizing display in the aquarium.
