DAY 228

Milkspotted Pufferfish
Chelonodon patoca

Size: 1’
pH: 7.5-8.5
Tank size: 100G/Individual
Country of origin: Kenya, Mozambique, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Bahrain, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Australia, Palau, Papua New Guinea
Diet: Live and frozen foods. It is imperative that you provide some sort of hard food
Temperament: Relatively peaceful compared to other pufferfish, though still may be aggressive at times
Temperature: 75-80° F
sg: 1.005-1.025

Description

Chelonodon patoca is an interesting brackish/marine pufferfish that is somewhat commonly found in freshwater as well. These fish do well when kept in full marine, though it is not needed. In fact, they really only need mild brackish conditions to thrive. This species is actually quite peaceful compared to most pufferfish, though they still certainly have some attitude. In especially large tanks, multiple of this species can be kept together.

Some of you may be wondering where I have been. I have been gone this past week for personal reasons. The next few profiles I post will be the last for a while, until I get inspiration again. This is NOT the end of the thread-- I'm just taking a break.
