If it feels like over decade has passed since actors Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy surprised us all by revealing they secretly wed in a romantic French ceremony it’s because it has.
Now, almost 15 years later the award winning performers have announced they’re welcoming their third child together.
Danes (43) and Dancy (47) share two sons together, a 10-year-old named Cyrus and a four-year-old named Rowan.
There is no news on the gender or due date of the baby, however it’s clear their bub is a welcome addition after 14 years of marriage.
Danes, who rose to prominence in the early 90s with roles in My So-Called Life, Little Woman and, most notably, Romeo + Juliet, revealed to People in 2015 that her oldest son was a ‘real set baby’.
“He [Cyrus] says, ‘Action! He’s a real set baby. It’s really sweet. It’s a great environment for a kid. It’s the circus,” she told the publication. So, if baby number three is anything like their older brother we could have a burgeoning actor on our hands.
Dancy, who has also appeared in award winning roles across film, television and the theatre, has yet to comment on their impending arrival but it’s likely we will get our first glimpse at Danes’ baby bump at the 2023 Golden Globes Awards.
Danes is nominated for an award in the ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television’ category for her performance as divorced theatre agent in Fleishman Is in Trouble.
Given the timing of the announcement, it’s likely that Homeland alumni could already be showing by the time she appears on the runway, especially considering she didn’t even announce her second pregnancy until she was almost into her third trimester.
Either way, we know Danes’ maternity fashion won’t deviate from her enviable sartorial repertoire.

Wait, Claire Danes And Hugh Dancy Are Married?
Considering their rare public appearances together (sans a fashionable outing on the red carpet for a film premiere or the Met Gala), we’d forgive you for forgetting that these two were even an item.
But, as it turns out, the private couple have been happily married for almost fourteen years, which is practically a century by Hollywood standards.
Danes and Dancy met back in 2006 when they were both shooting the film Evening. The couple appeared in the star-studded film as former school-friends embroiled in a love triangle in 1950s Rhode Island.
According to their Evening co-star Mamie Gummer, who also happens to be the daughter of Meryl Streep, the couple were very “low-key” and bonded over ” games of Boggle and Scrabble on the movie set”.
As per People, Gummer revealed Danes and Dancy falling in love was something she’ll never forget.
“I was there when it was happening,” she said before adding “I’m incredibly happy for them. They are perfect for each other”.
The couple announced their engagement in Feburary of 2009 and wed in a secret ceremony in September of that year.
The ceremony was reportedly a low-key affair held in France.
Speaking on their meeting, Danes revealed to marie claire in 2017 that the pair started as friends before developing a deeper attraction for one another.
“Hugh and I met in Rhode Island when it was at its most audaciously beautiful, in the fall. And there was one day when we were bicycling by the water and it was sparkly and idyllic, and I just had this dumb epiphany, like, ‘I’m really just happy’.”
Since evening, Dancy even made an brief cameo appearance alongside Danes in the cult-favourite espionage drama Homeland.

At present, Danes and Dancy share two children, Cyrus (10) and Rowan (4), with a third currently on it’s way.
Following the birth of her second child in 2018, Danes took a small step back from acting to recuperate after working non-stop since during and after the birth of her first child.
Danes returned to the small screen in 2022 in the lauded limited-series’ The Essex Serpent and Fleishman Is In Trouble.
