Description

Altolamprologus compressiceps ‘Kagunga’, a distinctive variant of the compressiceps cichlid, is native to the rocky depths of Lake Tanganyika in Africa. This species stands out with its laterally compressed body, giving it a unique, slender profile. Typically, they grow to about 4-6 inches in length and exhibit a color palette ranging from golden to brown with intricate patterns, making them a visually appealing addition to the aquarium.

These cichlids are known for their fascinating behaviors, including their method of hunting in the wild by wedging themselves in rocky crevices to ambush prey. In the aquarium, they require a similar environment with plenty of rocks and caves to mimic their natural habitat. They thrive in alkaline water with a pH of 8.0-9.0 and require stable water conditions with excellent filtration.
