I just returned from the FETSA conference at StocExpo in Rotterdam and observed several speakers who jumped on the bandwagon of hydrogen, net zero and ammonia, because an investment trend is developing in that direction. But my question is: do we know enough about these risky elements and products? Have we truly studied their potential impact on life, the environment and social cohesion for the long term? Join us for our first ever event in Washington D.C.! Upon invitation of EU Trade and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), we will host our session "Accelerating the scale-up of technologies in a transatlantic context – Thermal energy storage and industry" on January 31st. The event is part of the Transatlantic Initiative on Sustainable Trade (TIST). High-temperature heat (>100°C) is one essential input for many hard-to-abate industries such as steel, cement, glass, and metals. Hence, the decarbonization of such processes must be put on the agenda of policy-makers and innovators. During this session, we will discuss the current state of Thermal Energy Storage (TES) for the industry in both the EU and the US, the existing research programmes or joint demonstration projects that can be leveraged to encourage rapid scale-up, the regulatory barriers that need to be removed to facilitate the cross-border dissemination of technologies, and the financing mechanisms and incentives that can be put in place to attract private investment and public funding for scaling up thermal energy storage on both sides of the Atlantic. The Transatlantic Initiative on Sustainable Trade (TIST) aims to allow the transatlantic stakeholder community to provide input on how it can promote a more integrated and resilient transatlantic marketplace that will help accelerate the transition to a climate-neutral and more circular economy to the benefit of businesses, workers, and consumers on both sides of the Atlantic. 🔹 EU Strategy for a non Toxic Aquatic Environment - Blue Print Initiaitve - For improved water quality in Europe’s rivers Take Aways from EU FP7 SOLUTIONS 2013 - 2018 Project 🔹 Many of Europe’s rivers contain mixtures of chemicals that are harmful to algae and aquatic life. Although the concentrations of some pollutants are monitored in the EU’s water bodies, there are doubts as to whether monitoring focuses on the right substances and what role is played by transformation products and combinations of substances. In the European FP7 project SOLUTIONS, 33 research partners among EU and led by the UFZ have developed innovative, predictive and protective tools, methods and practical solutions for identifying substances and priority mixtures, and their related adverse early toxic mode of actions that require priority treatment, assessing the risk posed by chemical mixtures, and minimising the pollution burden. 🔹🔹 Innovative System Thinking for #OneHealth 🔹🔹 Effect Based Monitoring for Water Chemical Mixtures, including acurate and more integrative diagnosis, safety framework enforcment, aiming to challenge and better secure all the water treatment plants performance efficiency and safety assessment 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eSwHgB-N (from beyond EU borders EPA representatives / Canada, Brazil, India, China, Africa, Japan, etc) 🔹 Paradigm shift project with the best EU scientific teams Unforgetable hybridation of knowledges and spirits, solutions orientated 🔗 https://lnkd.in/evvg2w9T 🔹 All these advances on chemical safety have been combined to Biogenomics to track #Pathogens and #AMR and are today embedded into #WBE / #WCE that allow to reconsider the Water Cycle as a Sentinel and Nexus for #OneHealth. All is mature, transferable, cost effictive, more comprehensive. 🔹 Strong combined innovations to shift the burden upstream and by the way reduce exposures, save huge amont of costs and better protect essential ecosystems, as present and future generations. #NoOneBehind #SDGs Institut One Health One Sustainable Health FORUM Werner Brack Beate Escher Bernd Manfred Gawlik Ismahane Remonnay Global Commission on the Economics of Water Barbara Pomili Virginie Dumoulin Xavier Leflaive Marijn Korndewal Hannah Leckie

🚚 One of Europe's ambitions is to reduce CO₂ emissions from heavy-duty long-haul trucks by 90% by 2040. Several technologies are in the running but battery electric trucks are increasingly preferred as a solution. This requires very large battery capacity and charging infrastructure whose costs are still unclear and this is a major barrier. Equipping motorways with overhead lines could be an interesting no-regret solution here that allows working with a much smaller battery capacity. This solution does require European coordination. Maria Börjesson, professor of Economics, area of Transport Systems, Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI) and Linköping University, is our guest at our 17th TML Talk on Tuesday 5 December. Together with colleague Tim Breemersch, she sheds light on the challenge of making long-distance freight traffic carbon-free by 2040. Colleague Sven Maerivoet introduces the context and speakers and moderates the Q&A session. Our TML Talks are free, but registration is mandatory and you can do so via this link. The deadline to sign up for this TML Talk is Thursday 30 November or when we reach the 50-subscription mark. More info : https://lnkd.in/epbJR3i5

I attended the webinar on, “Climate Tech and sustainability”. There were two main speakers in this online event Mr. Wenxiao Huang (Feon Energy Inc) and Mr. Raza Azizian (Co-Founder & CEO Ferveret). Feon Energy has identified a problem that Lithium-ion batteries have a limited capacity and are heavy, Feon Energy proposes the use of Lithium metal batteries that have higher capacity and have lower weight. The use of this technology can make drastic improvement in electric vehicles, increasing the vehicle mileage. This technology can also revolutionize the consumer electronics industry. Ferveret has also identified a problem that is data centers produce immense CO2 emissions and they have come up with a technology of heat transfer that can increase the cooling efficiency in the data centers using their newly developed di-electric fluid for two phase heat transfer. Attending this event has widened my horizon on what developments are happening in technology to improve the environment. I would thank all the speakers and Valkyrie Fund for arranging this event. #environnement #heattransfer #lithiumionbatteries https://lnkd.in/gvcSa62Q
