Meet the Blue-Footed Boobies, the charismatic stars of Galápagos! Famous for their vivid blue feet and enchanting courtship dance, these seabirds capture the heart of the archipelago's unique biodiversity. But they're more than just a pretty dance – they play a crucial role in our marine ecosystem. Your support can help protect these splendid birds and their habitat. Act now for their future! Unfortunately, sharks and rays, as well as chimaeras, are among the world's most threatened animals. These creatures face many threats and just to name a few they are at severe risk of overfishing and are vulnerable to habitat destruction. However, there are a few things we can do to help get involved with the conservation of these beautiful creatures. Some of the ways in which you can work toward their conservation are by not eating unsustainable food, support environmental nonprofits, make sure that your trash is making its way into the proper receptacles and not the ocean, and by making sure to not use single use plastics. If you have an interest in learning more about this topic, check out the Global Priorities for Conserving Sharks and Rays: A 2015-2025 Strategy, which calls for the better inclusion of both rays and sharks in conservation action plans!
A healthy ocean starts with a rich and diverse ecosystem. For over 400 MILLION years, #sharks have inhabited our ocean to play an important role as a #keystonespecies. From apex predators like the great white to seabed scavengers like this Port Jackson shark shown here, these animals help balance ocean ecosystems that are critical to a healthy Planet Earth. If keystone species like sharks are removed, eradicated, or driven to extinction, the ecosystem would change drastically—impacting all the life connected to it. Today, more than one-third of sharks, rays and chimaeras are threatened with extinction. As global #biodiversity becomings increasingly more at risk with the growing reality of the #climatecrisis, we must not forget all the incredible species we are fighting for. Much of the world's wildlife depends on trees and healthy habitats to survive, but in the face of the climate crisis, many wild places left on Earth are rapidly declining. Reforesting these areas will aid in the protection of endangered species, restoration of holistic ecosystems, and improvement of soil stability- ultimately increasing the food supply, health, and overall well-being of some of the world's most incredible animals. We are planting trees to support biodiversity in regions like the Albertine Rift in Africa, the southwest of Western Australia, and the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Join us in restoring these habitats by clicking the link below 🌱👇 https://lnkd.in/eh_5MPwc

Animals like this migratory monarch could be extinct in your lifetime. Give a voice to the voiceless by spreading awareness of habitat loss and the decline of biodiversity. do your part in protecting wildlife by creating habitat for them. Work towards inspiring other people and getting them exited about something as simple as starting a flower garden. Little steps make a BIG difference.

https://lnkd.in/enBMzb7q Nature is essential for the survival of all life on Earth. But it’s diminishing, fast. Climate change, habitat destruction, unsustainable resource use, poaching. It’s all having a devastating impact on our planet. It’s time to change the story. I am a Trustee of Fauna & Flora and its purpose is to protect the diversity of life on Earth, for the survival of the planet and its people. They work closely with local conservation partners around the world to save nature, together. Protecting habitats, reviving the ocean, reducing extinctions, stopping illegal wildlife trade, combatting climate change. Fauna & Flora exemplify how people living closest to nature- the people on the frontlines of climate change and biodiversity loss - are the solution to saving it. Please follow and support Fauna & Flora and their crucial work to save nature. #SavingNatureTogether

Did you know that coral reefs are living animals? They belong to the Anthozoa in the animal phylum Cnidaria, which includes the jellyfish family. Coral Reefs support more species than any other marine ecosystem and rival rainforests for biodiversity. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest living structure on Earth. It stretches for 1,400 miles over an area of approximately 133,000 square miles. It comprises about 3,000 individual reefs and is visible from space. #coralreef #coralreefconservation #CoralReefAwarenessWeek Want to help protect the reefs?
