Ophiopogon japonicus 'Minor' is a variety of herbaceous perennial plants belonging to the Asparagaceae family, native to the eastern regions of Asia, in particular Japan, China and Korea.

This plant has long, thin leaves, similar to those of an earth lily, of a bright dark green colour. It grows in dense clumps and can form dense, lush mats over time. The leaves are persistent and remain green all year round.

In summer, Ophiopogon japonicus 'Minor' produces small, delicate white or pink blooms, gathered in small, erect spikes emerging from the base of the leaves. These flowers are followed by the formation of small, dark blue berries that add ornamental interest to the plant.

This variety of Ophiopogon is widely popular as a ground cover for its beautiful tufts of leaves and its ability to grow in shaded areas, under trees or other places where other plants might struggle to thrive. Its hardy nature and shade tolerance make it a popular choice for shade gardens or for creating decorative borders or pots.
