Oryctes rhinoceros are one of the most dangerous species for palm tree. Once they get introduced, they attack the growing fonts of the palm trees, leaving damages to the leaves. This will later indirectly result in the huge loss in plant yield for matured palm trees but can create direct effect on young palm trees.
Use of Oryctes rhinoceros Pheromone lure & trap is effective and is considered to be one of the best ways for doing organic farming. We Green Victory® intend to supply & meet the ever-growing demand for organic & eco-friendly techniques. With our specialized R&D team, we bring in the best Pheromone Lures & Trap. Easy to use the product. Our pheromones are induced in wax for longer field longevity & Trap is designed with textured grip and blades for striking off weevil that charge towards trap easily but the inside surface is mirror polished so the weevil can’t crawl back outside. Thus, our innovative patented technology guaranteeing successful catch.
Oryctes rhinoceros, is found throughout many tropical regions of the world. adults and larvae have different feeding preference. Damage to plants is caused by adults. They can cause extensive damage to economically important wild and plantation palms. Adults feed on crown region of the palms. By feeding on healthy leaves, Oryctes rhinoceros causes physical damage, they bore through petiole bases into the central unopened leaves. This results tissue damages and dieback, which can stunt growth and lead to secondary infections from bacteria or fungi . Presence of the animal can be visible due to fibrous frass found inside and at the entrance to the feeding hole. Most often fronds became wedge-shaped gaps or characteristic V-shaped cuts to fronds.
Detection can be difficult due to the beetle’s activity normally happens inside trees and residence within trees. Visual signs such as holes bored at the base of leaves and V-shaped feeding damage helps to identify the beetle attack but most often the trees are left with the impact before we could act.

Oryctes rhinoceros is found in several regions of the world, Adult beetles range from 1.2 to 2.5 inches in length. and are dark brown or black. Both males and females possess a similarly sized horn used for leverage when moving within tightly-packed leaves or within the cavities they create in the crown of palms, the horn length is longer on average for males. Oryctes rhinoceros larvae (grubs) are milky white with red heads. Adult females deposit eggs inside dead palms, decaying plant material, soil with high organic matter content, and, occasionally, wooden structures Adult female lay yellowish-white oval eggs which are about 3 mm in diameter. Eggs are typically laid inside rotting vegetative matter. After one week, they swell and later hatch within 11 to 13 days. Upon emerging, adults fly to a new tree, feed, and mate. Adults spend most of their time feeding on fresh leaves. Adult females live up to nine months, over which period they can lay up to 100 eggs.
Oryctes rhinoceros is one of the most damaging insects to palms. By feeding on healthy leaves, Oryctes rhinoceros causes physical damage, which can stunt growth and lead to secondary infections from bacteria or fungus. But here the damage is caused by adults and so the importance of effective pheromone trap is required or else current generation of weevils and new from the same generation of weevils together become hard to control and have the potential to create more damage.
ALWAYS PLACE PHEROMONE TRAP TO THE CORNER OF THE FIELD, AS THESE PHEROMONE TRAP ACTS AS A BARRICADE. ONCE THE TRAP IS INSTALLED, IT STARTS TO LURE THE INSECTS AND SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO HUNG OUTSIDE THE FILED.
